A few thoughts on seeds…
I saw this as I was walking to lunch today, and I heard very clearly, “Some seeds are very easily spread.”
Dandelion seeds certainly are. I always saw them as fun yellow polka dots in the sea of green lawn. But Papa saw them as grass killers! 🤤
It’s in the vein of killer weeds that I’ve been pondering how easily seeds of discord & gossip, seeds of doubt & fear spread. And how speedily those seeds can multiply.
But it takes much longer to cultivate seeds of trust, faith, love, and hope.
This is because those seeds need to be planted, cultivated, nurtured, and that requires effort. And time.
Much effort and much time.
Your words are seeds.
Your words are seeds in your life.
Yor words are seeds in other people’s lives.
What kinds of seeds are you sowing? What are you speaking? What are you believing?
Point to ponder while you wander…”A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, And a word spoken in due season, how good it is!” Proverbs 15:23 NKJV
Hope is a Perspective Shift
“When hope’s dream seems to drag on and on, the delay can be depressing. But when at last your dream comes true, life’s sweetness will satisfy your soul.” Proverbs 13:12 TPT
This verse… Oh man. This verse…
The first part has been my truth for many years now. Fighting to keep believing. Seeking Jesus. Worshipping in the darkest parts of depression, when I’d rather stay in bed and sleep my life away. Or escape to a place I’d rather be in movies or books.
I even painted the first part of the verse in the ugliest manner possible…
About a year and and some months later God encouraged me to paint the second half of the verse. I used the exact same colors.
Looks totally different, doesn’t it? Perspective matters. What you believe becomes reality.
Remind yourself daily that God is for you not against you. Remind yourself you are unconditionally loved. Remind yourself that God is working things out for good for those who love Him.
Because, let’s be honest, the world can be an asshole who sucks the joy and peace right out of you.
Point to ponder while you wander…Not all dreams come true when we are young, so don’t let the frustrations of the day to day steal your joy. Keep dreaming. Keep believing.
A Cheerful Heart
It’s Monday. And I think that people need to laugh and smile more. So does Solomon. Proverbs 17:22 says, “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.”
So if you are finding your strength waning in the midst of whatever it is that’s going on in your life, do something fun. Watch old sitcoms that are actually funny or some other comedy. Read a light hearted book. Take a walk or do whatever it is you enjoy that makes you smile or laugh. Start speaking positively. Make plans that you will look forward to and enjoy. Choose to find something joyful in your day. Be silly!
Since it’s Musical Monday… Here’s “A Cheerful Heart” by Rick Pino. and “Laugh” by The Monkees
Iron Sharpens Iron
Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend [to show rage or worthy purpose]. Proverbs 27:17 AMP
Today I’m just grateful for those friends who’ve challenged me go grow, called me out in love when I needed it and have been there for me when things were hard.
I love you.
That’s all today.
