Life Awry

Who or what do you run to when life goes awry? David went to God…

I love you, God-You make me strong. God is a bedrock under my feet, the castle in which I live, my rescuing knight. My God-the high crag where I run for dear life, hiding behind the boulders, safe in the granite hideout.” Psalm 18:1 MSG

David made mistakes. Big ones. People died because of him. Yet God called him “a man after my own heart.”

Personally I think it’s 2 reasons…

1) David sought God first. He didn’t turn to wine, his friends, or anything else when life hit the fan. He took his mess to God every time.

2) David turned his rants into worship. “God the king is trying to kill me!! I’m hiding for my life in a cave! I am hungry! I an cold! But I know what You promised me. I know you’ll turn this around for my good. Because you are good. I love who you are. You are worthy of all worship, simply because you are God.”

Point to ponder while you wander… Life is not always a bowl of cherries, sometimes it is a bowl of pits. Sometimes we are the person responsible for that bowl of mess, sometimes not. Either way…when we are God seekers and God lovers He works on our behalf to turn that mess into something good. Only God can do that. That fact alone makes Him worthy of worship.

PS “And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Romans 8:27-28 NLT

PSS “It was by faith that Enoch was taken up to heaven without dying—“he disappeared, because God took him.” For before he was taken up, he was known as a person who pleased God. And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to Him must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who sincerely seek Him.” Hebrews 11:5-6 NLT

Time to Bloom

Hang in there little bud…it may not yet be your time to bloom, but trust me your day IS coming!

The season has now changed, the bondage of your barren winter has ended, and the season of hiding is over and gone. The rains have soaked the earth, and left it bright with blossoming flowers…” Song of Songs TPT

A Cheerful Heart

It’s Monday. And I think that people need to laugh and smile more.  So does Solomon.  Proverbs 17:22 says, “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.”

So if you are finding your strength waning in the midst of whatever it is that’s going on in your life, do something fun.  Watch old sitcoms that are actually funny or some other comedy.  Read a light hearted book.  Take a walk or do whatever it is you enjoy that makes you smile or laugh.  Start speaking positively.  Make plans that you will look forward to and enjoy.  Choose to find something joyful in your day.  Be silly!

Since it’s Musical Monday… Here’s “A Cheerful Heart” by Rick Pino.  and “Laugh” by The Monkees

Musical Monday…”God Believes In You”

There’s this song by Jill Phillips called “God Believes In You.”  I sometimes listen to it on repeat.  It reminds me that I matter to the Great Creator.  That the God above all other gods values me.  It reminds me that I am the daughter of the Most High God, and that I am beloved.  Not just loved, BELOVED.  He knows why He created me and what I will become.  He doesn’t worry about the fact that I screwed up again or that I failed.  He knows I will get there and He believes in me.

When no one else agrees or understands….when no one else says anything good….when people spit on you….when people you thought you could trust betray you….when you’ve failed again….when people create lies about you and spread them at work, school, church or on social media….

You need to know who you are.  You need to know that you are the beloved of God.  You need to know that God considered you such a valuable treasure that He was willing to send Jesus to die for you.  You need to know that you were the joy that was set before Jesus so He was willing to be spit on, mocked, beaten and crucified.  You are worth so much more than you can possibly imagine.  So for all of you having a rough week, month or year…know that God believes in you!

This post is written to everyone who has been feeling down or been feeling attacked lately.  But it’s also written to a specific beautiful middle school girl who is being attacked by insecure and jealous girls.  I want you to know that you too are beloved.  You have a purpose and a calling.  You are so very very special.  God made you so unique and creative.  We all love you.  We are behind you.  We all believe in you.  You matter to all of us.  You matter to God.  Hang in there my sweet sweet girl.

God Believes in You by Jill Phillips (Buy it from itunes if you don’t have it…you won’t be sorry).

When you start to doubt if you exist
God believes in you
Confounded by the evidence
God believes in you
When your light burns so dim
When your chances seem so slim
And you swear you don’t believe in Him
God believes in you

When you rise up just to fall again
God believes in you
Deserted by your closest friends
God believes in you
When you’re betrayed with a kiss
You turn your cheek to another fist
It does not have to end like this
God believes in you

Oh everything matters if anything matters at all
Everything matters no matter how big
No matter how small
Cause God believes in you
Oh God believes in you

When you’re so ashamed that you could die
God believes in you
And you can’t do right even though you try
God believes in you
Blessed are the ones who grieve
The ones who mourn, the ones who bleed
In sorrow you sow but in joy you reap
God believes in you

Blessed are the ones who grieve
The ones who mourn, the ones who bleed
In sorrow you sow but in joy you reap
God believes in you
Oh God believes in you
